A cat in Texas got into a sticky situation earlier this month when its head got stuck in a cup.

Police were called to help the cat after it was seen wandering down the street in searing temperatures with a cup stuck on its head in Palmhurst in far southern Texas.

"We're unsure how long this poor feline had been suffering in this heat and unable to see but action need to be taken immediately," the Palmhurst Police Department wrote in a Facebook post about the Aug. 1 incident.

Body cam footage shows the cat was scared and when officers approached, would pounce away, even going out into a street. Luckily one of the officers figured out how to save the cat.

Following the rescue, the department promptly found a fitting name for the cat: Jar Jar.

Watch: Officers help kitty with cup stuck on its head

Palmhurst Police officers get to work right away, trying to get as close as they can to the cat without spooking it. The cat runs and leaps away from the officers at first, but eventually comes to a stop when it feels cornered.

"You wanna grab it? Or do you want me to grab it?" one officer asks.

One officer gets close enough to reach for the cup, but the cat jumps away before the officer can get it off its head. They try again, except this time they decide to envelop the feline in a highlighter yellow vest to prevent it from squirming around.

The officer who managed to successfully envelop the cat walks toward another colleague, who works to remove the cup once more. This attempt fails, too.

It's not until the officers sit the cat down and try to pin it down that they are able to shake the cup loose from its head. They keep the cat wrapped in the vest, letting it up for air and giving it the opportunity to partake on a can of cat food.
